Roll massage involves a mechanical wave-shaped rotating wooden roller that massages the body and releases tension. At Varbergs Kusthotell, you will receive a 40-minute full-body treatment where the machine's rotating wooden rollers massage the body in various positions, enhanced by health-promoting infrared light for optimal effect.

During your first visit, you will be welcomed by an instructor who will introduce you to roll massage. Together, you will complete a 40-minute treatment, where the instructor will demonstrate how the machine works and explain the purpose of the treatment. You also get access to our heated seawater pool, foot bath, experience shower, relaxation area, and sauna one hour before and after your treatment. Of course, you can borrow a locker room, shower, cozy bathrobe, and towel from us.

Dress code
When you arrive at Varbergs Kusthotell for your roll massage treatment, we recommend wearing soft, form-fitting clothing, such as tights and a snug long-sleeve top, along with socks. Clothing should not have zippers, buttons, or loose items. Please remove jewelry and watches, and tie up long hair in a bun.

When not to undergo roll massage

Absolute Contraindications

• Fever/infection
• Acute trauma to the spine (avoid massage for the first approximately 6-8 weeks)
• Malignant tumors
• Severe osteoporosis
• Rupture (muscle tear)
• Acute dislocations (arm/leg out of joint)
• Infectious spondylitis and other skeletal infections – inflammation of the vertebrae
• Cancer and within two years after being declared cancer-free

Relative Contraindications

• Hemophilia
• Cardiovascular diseases
• Vascular issues such as clots, arteriosclerosis, and vascular inflammation
• Medication with clot-dissolving and blood-thinning agents
• Varicose veins (avoid rolling directly on the varicose vein)
• Acute trauma to the body's soft tissues (e.g., contusions)
• Open wounds and purulent processes
• Skin diseases such as severe eczema and contagious diseases
• Pregnancy (avoid massage entirely during the first three months)
